Mahysar's Goal is Simple:
Mahsar trains 'Optimism' and teaches the kids how to keep even the smallest amount of pessimism out of their lives. His goal for each student is to be independent and a contributor to society, these kids can get around a hazardous city, they get University degrees, run businesses & are entrepreneurial just like he was.
Recognition by the President:
Mahsar's recognition by the president is one of only four ever given in Indonesia. This might be all well and dandy, but the Government have forgotten him & the price of the shirt on the president, would probably feed all the orphan's for 3 months!
Buy Mahysar's Music:
Mahsar's music is famous and we want to get it online and selling. This needs re - marketing and hopefully the choosen music company contributes it's normal fee.
Why is founder: Mahysar my new Super Hero:
Simple - as a blind man he rose to humble fame as a singer musician in Lombok and Bali - he is Indonesia's 'Stevie Wonder' but unlike Mr Wonder he has put all his earnings & everything back into his Blind Orphanage. He has a unique tropical Sasak flavour to his music and he started saving a bit of money. The Blind orphan problem was huge in Lombok and together with his brother they started their dream of a blind kids orphanage, specially set up so as these kids could get educated and empowered as a group.
After a lot of lobbying Government and with their own funds the orphanage got new buildings in 1995 (no NGO or western help) and hosted around 40 kids.
THIS IS A VERY SMART SCHOOL: The kids here are intelligent & extremely capable, hundreds of past students are out there contributing to society.

'Mahysar's Forgotten Blind Orphanage' is hungry but happy:
They only get $6 a day to cook 3 meals per day to feed 30 blind orphans and 10 others. Even in Indonesia this is no where near enough and the kids are doing OK but it is getting hard for Mahysar to keep on top of this in his later years. NPO Projects.ORG would like to form a support group to keep this orphanage sustainably and with good resources and opportunity for these very smart kids, lastly - there is a waiting list of 27 other blind students who want to come but sadly funds don't allow for.

Families that desert their blind children:
Poverty drives some awful things. All the children here come from backgrounds of the poorest of the poor. From 3o children 60% are genuine orhans and the rest have some kind of family or parents. Sadly these kids have been dumped and left here, and in their shame they don't visit with only 5 children getting visits from children & family. There are 27 Lombok blind waiting to come if funding is found.
BLIND ORPHANAGE WISH LIST:
Our first priority is to form a place to comunicate some Bali - Lombok Coordination People together, even if you are only available for a short time it will be enough to put systems in place.

SUSTAINABLE INCOME GENERATION:
1. Set up a Paying Volunteer system via NPO Projects Volunteer Network (this involves sending sensitive & sensible people) Very small numbers of one or two at a time paying $20 per night, helping to teach english, music, have fun, play games and break the boredom of course help fund the school. AAAA (Our first NPO Volunteer visited recently - the kids loved him and his visit was one of amazement.) 2. The blind have always been famous for good massage. Mahysar's Dream is to set up a small massage business & massage training facility: Partnering with quality motel in Mataram where the kids also learned English would be perfect. AAAA 3. Sell Mahsar's music albums on line also young 'Bandung' and his bass player & drummer 'Sapar' - Bandung also get them to a recording studio. Bundand came second in a national competition in a country of 240 million! AAAA 4. Find out if there is a National Government standard payment per child and what that amount is. Ask Government for an increase in food money ie $6 per day to feed 30 kids 3 meals is not enough. AAAA 5. Set up a Radio station local & via internet |
